8 Murder Charges Laid Against Man After Vancouver Festival Attack Kills 11

Charges have been laid against a man after an attack during a Vancouver Filipino festival on Saturday night that killed 11 people.

Vancouver Police say Adam Kai-Ji Lo faces eight counts of second-degree murder and further charges are anticipated.

Const. Tania Visintin says some victims remain unidentified.

Vancouver Police have said those who were killed range in age from five to 65 and the death toll could rise as dozens more were hurt when an SUV raced down a street where the Lapu Lapu Day festival was just wrapping up.

Police previously said a 30-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene, and that their officers had numerous encounters with him in the past over “mental health issues.”

Witnesses said victims were sent flying as a black Audi SUV sped through the crowd at the festival just after 8 p.m. on Saturday.
